A female student believed to be a cultist has been arrested for
allegedly arranging for five of her fellow cult members to gang-rape her
friend.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisabor,
on Thursday, March 6, 2014 paraded the suspect, Mary Awolola, a student
of the College of Technology, Offa.
According to reports, Awolola confessed to have been gang-raped by four members of the cult group before her initiation.
She
added that she arranged for her friend to be gang-raped by the cultists
because she refused to join their group despite pressure mounted on
her.

Mary also said she regretted her action having been arrested by
the Police and more importantly that she was not gaining anything from
the cult activities.
She said:“I did not gain anything from cultism. I regret all my actions.”
According
to the CP, Awolola was arrested on February 22, 2014 at Rondo area in
Offa where five boys of the same school gang-raped the victim (names
withheld).
He said: “Two suspects were arrested, they confessed to the crime while efforts are still on to arrest other fleeing suspects.”
The
commissioner also paraded a robbery suspect, Bala Mohammed from
Nasarawa State who has been terrorising the people of Kwara North with
his group.
The police boss said luck ran out of him and his gang as
his vehicle, an Opel Vectra with number plate Plateau BSA 24XA with four
occupants, was intercepted for routine check along
Tsaragi/Lafiagi/Yikpata road by officers of Federal High Patrol while
the gang was on their way to rob people at the nearby Gbugbu market.
