Woman In Court For StealingTomato Paste Worth N12m

A 39-year-old woman, Blessing Ebele, has been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 5,500 cartons of Jacomo tomato paste belonging to Viscous Global Investment.

The stolen tomato is said to be valued at N11, 960, 000.

The police said the incident happened at the Iddo terminus, Iddo area of Lagos State.

She was  arraigned on two counts of fraud and stealing.

The charges read, “That you, Blessing Ebele, on May 7, 2013, at Iddo terminus, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, with intent to defraud, did obtain 5,500 cartons of Jacomo tomato paste valued at N11, 960, 000 property of Viscous Global Investment, Iddo Railway Terminus, Lagos, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 312(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

 “That you, Blessing Ebele, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did steal 5,500 cartons of Jacomo tomato paste, valued N11, 960, 000 property of Viscous Global Investment, Iddo Railway Terminus, Lagos and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”

She pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.

The defence counsel urged the court to grant her bail in liberal terms.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.A Demi-Ajayi, admitted her to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties each in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till January 15, 2014.

Boy Jailed For Possession Of Fake Currency

A Nigerian Federal High Court sitting in Gombe, Gombe State presided over by Justice Babatunde O. Quadri, on Friday November convicted and sentenced one Mark Thomas, a photographer residing at Buba Shongo quarters Gombe, to two years imprisonment for being in possession of counterfeit currency.
Thomas was arrested on the 8th of October, 2013 by men of the Department of State Security Services and brought to the EFCC Gombe Zonal Office.
 During investigations, Thomas revealed that he produced the notes using a photocopier, which he claimed was stolen from him by unknown persons before his arrest. Forensic analysis confirmed the said currency notes to be fake as they had no security markings. Some of the N1000 notes had no serial numbers and three of the N500 notes have same serial numbers.
The convict who was first arraigned on the 19th of November, 2013 pleaded guilty to the two count charge relating to possession of counterfeit currency notes.
After listening to the prosecution witness testimony, the prayer of prosecution counsel, Salihu M. Aliyu, and the accused plea for leniency, Justice Quadri convicted Thomas accordingly and sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment without an option of fine.

A man believed to be in his 70s, who claimed to be a wizard, was on Wednesday found on the banks of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region of Ghana
The man, who gave his name as Charles Atta, looked frail, pale and bore protruding breasts like that of a teenage girl.
His body was smeared with mud from the bank of the river where he was found by two brothers, Liberty Obeng and Innocent Obeng, who claimed they found the strange man crying for help.

The two brothers told reporters that the self-acclaimed wizard confessed to them that he was in the company of colleagues, including a medical doctor and were flying to Cape Coast for a meeting when he was forced down.

According to him, they were flying over a church where an all-night vigil was being held when he crash- landed at Servant Kings International School.

"When we as asked him where he was coming from, Atta told us that he was from Akuapem Akropong but was flying to Cape Coast to attend a meeting for witches and wizards," he said.

Charles also confessed that the two puffy protrusions on his chest were breasts taken from his 16-year- old granddaughter and that he normally borrowed them for his night activities. Ehn?

The two brothers said they were initially confused and bewildered by the weird sight of the man, and not knowing what to do him took him to Pink FM, a local radio station at Kasoa for help.

When the strange announcement was made on radio, hundreds of people besieged the premises of the radio station to see the suspected wizard.

Upon hearing the news, the Kasoa District Police dispatched a number of police personnel to the station to save the victim from being lynched.

Superintendent Samuel Tabril Punobyin told the paper that the police did not investigate spiritual matters and that the suspected wiz-ard could therefore not be charged.

He said the police would look for the family erf the man and hand him over to them. Charles Atta is still in the custody .of the Kasoa Police.

Must it always be Africa. Why don't we hear of wizards and witches crash landing in Europe, US, Asia and the rest? God please help Africa, our heart are too dark.
