Arsene Wenger has already convinced Alvaro Morata to join Arsenal on loan ahead of Tottenham, according to reports in Spain.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the young striker since
August, with Andre Villas-Boas wanting him included in the deal that saw
Gareth Bale move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez rejected that proposition, but
Spurs were confident of sealing a loan deal for Morata when the
transfer window reopened in January.
With Karim Benzema and Jese already ahead of 21-year-old Morata, it
is understood Carlo Ancelotti is happy to see the player continue his
development away from the club.
It now appears that Arsenal have stolen a march on their north London
rivals, with Spanish paper Onda Cero reporting that Arsenal boss Wenger
has already convinced Morata that Arsenal is the place to be.
Morata wants first team football at the Bernabeu but knows he faces a
battle to get in to the starting line up. Wenger has assured Morata
that a loan spell at the Emirates will help him reach his target.

Bariga APC Secretary Drops Dead in Lagos
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bariga Lagos State was thrown
into mourning on Monday when one of its own, Pastor Abiodun Adeboyejo,
popularly known as JP, was found dead in his Akinramola Street office,
Bariga, Lagos State, western Nigeria.
Until his demise, he was the party’s Financial Secretary in that area. Some residents who spoke to our reporters at the scene of his mysterious death said he was hail and hearty on Saturday evening when he exchanged pleasantries with friends in the vicinity.
According to a son of Adeboyejo’s landlord, no one knew that the deceased was dead. His office was locked and nobody suspected anything until a foul smell filled the air around the part of the building he used as office. “We did not know he was dead inside his office until he started smelling. At first, we felt a rat had died there and we tried to call his line to inform him of the stench coming his office, all to no avail. It became clear that something was amiss when one of his wives came around to announce that their husband didn’t come home,” he explained.
“At that juncture, we called the police who eventually came to force the door open; and we found him dead on the floor,” he said.
Describing the deceased, the LGA chairman of the party who is also the Chairman of the conference of LGA Chairmen of APC, Lagos State, Otunba Dengel Anifowoshe, said the late financial secretary was pragmatic, disciplined and dedicated. He referred to his sudden death as a shock and a blow to the party and people of Bariga. Otunba Dengel later organised for the evacuation of the corpse by an ambulance.
The deceased politician was also a member of the Estate Rent & Commission Agents Association of Nigeria, ERCAAN, Owututu, Ladi-Lak, Bariga branch.
Commenting on his death, the chairman of ERCAAN, Prince Taiwo Okeowo, described the late Pastor Adeboyejo as a man who was committed to the progress of the association, stressing that the news of his death was unbelievable and shocking.
The late Adeboyejo left two wives and children behind.

We’re Not Afraid Of Tough Teams — Steven Keshi
Less than five days before the 2014 World Cup draws take place in
Brazil, coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has reaffirmed
that the current African champions are ready to play any team at the
mundial.
Nigeria and 31 other participating nations will on Friday in the Brazilian state of Bahia find out who their group opponents will be when the draws for next summer’s tournament takes place.
Speaking ahead of the highly-anticipated event, Keshi opined that Nigerians need not worry who his Eagles would be drawn against, rather they should continue to support and pray for the team to do well at the championship.
He said: “There is no more small team in the World Cup. Whether we are drawn against lowly rated teams, Nigerians will always worry. What I expect from them is to support the team and pray for us to do well in Brazil. We are not afraid of any team we are drawn against. It is going to be our 11-man team against their 11 players.”
Keshi, however, ruled out immediate call up for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup star, Kelechi Iheanacho, to the national team.
“Iheanacho is a very good player but he has only played at the junior team. He has no team at the moment and he is yet to play at a big league. We will see how he continues to develop but I don’t think he will get a chance to prove himself at the top level before the World Cup in the summer,” Keshi stated.

National Mirror's Graphic Artist Is Dead
A graphic artist with the National Mirror Newspaper,
Ezingbe Daniel, died from electrocution at his house in the Igando area
of Lagos State after he attempted to switch on his generating set
on Thursday.
According to
what was learnt, he was having issues with the electricity in his house
because his landlord cut him off power supply to his apartment for more
than three months and he has been relying on his generator for power but
he was not aware that his landlord had restored his electricity.
“At first, it
was his daughter that went to put on the generator and the generator
almost electrocuted her. She later called her father that the generator
was charged and when she tried to switch it on, the generator shocked
her. That was how her father (Mr. Ezingbe) came to switch on the
generating set but he was electrocuted instantly as he pulled the rope.
“The shock threw him off balance and slammed him on the floor. He died on the spot.”
The source
added that the corpse has been deposited in a mortuary but the police
