Arsene Wenger has already convinced Alvaro Morata to join Arsenal on loan ahead of Tottenham, according to reports in Spain.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the young striker since
August, with Andre Villas-Boas wanting him included in the deal that saw
Gareth Bale move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez rejected that proposition, but
Spurs were confident of sealing a loan deal for Morata when the
transfer window reopened in January.
With Karim Benzema and Jese already ahead of 21-year-old Morata, it
is understood Carlo Ancelotti is happy to see the player continue his
development away from the club.
It now appears that Arsenal have stolen a march on their north London
rivals, with Spanish paper Onda Cero reporting that Arsenal boss Wenger
has already convinced Morata that Arsenal is the place to be.
Morata wants first team football at the Bernabeu but knows he faces a
battle to get in to the starting line up. Wenger has assured Morata
that a loan spell at the Emirates will help him reach his target.
